Kali is still available as option on the distro menu of Universal USB installer 1.9.7.9. It is just more that down on list than shown on null-byte screenshot. Not sure, even if i just selected it, i think it was after security distros. Can't check now since i'm burning kali on usb drive.

Hard to believe but it seems that Windows 10 password can still be cracked with Ophcrack and Windows 7 tables. Maybe if it's not a compliated password. Anyway, is good to know we can still count on ophcrack for recovering account password.

Very easy, works like on all the others.... use a Linux Live DVD.... navigate to c:\windows\system32.
Find the sethc.exe, and name it e.g. "sethc_old.exe". Copy the cmd.exe and rename it sethc.exe.
Start Windows back up, and click on the help button (or press shift about 5-6 times) and you get an admin cmd prompt. From there you can use regular commands such as net user to reset the password. Once done delete the sethc.exe and rename the _old one back. Done.

Offline NT Password Editor is the tool you need. It's included in Hiren's Boot CD.
It ONLY works on local accounts. It's useless when dealing with Microsoft Accounts or domain accounts."

 

 

Grub modificar orden de arranque

numero de grub default (etc/default/grub) es el numero de particion contando desde cero según aparecen en gparted.

Instalé además de Windows, Linux y el arranque del portatil lo gestiona (creo) Grub y por defecto arranca hacia Limux y no Windows y sinceramente sigo usando Windows para todo.

Estoy en kali, voy a places, computer (es la partición de kali), etc, default, y abro fichero grub. Tengo instalado también Ubuntu pero el primer Linux que instalé con Windows fue Kali por lo que tiene que ser este fuchero Grub el que me aparece al arrancar el portatil.

Esto me suena de modificarlo hace años...
Tengo:
GRUB_DEFAULT=4
y es lo que quiero cambiar. Si no recuerdo mal cuando me muevo por el listado tengo dos últimas opciones que son de Ubuntu y la anteriot es la de Windows. Lo que no recuerdo es si son tres las opciones que hay antes, o cuatro?

No se si me ayuda, abro consola y lanzo gparted. Con windows hay dos particiones, la de reserved y recovery. No, no me sirve saber número de particiones.

Supongamos entonces que 0 es primera entrada del menu que es kali (me olvido de que default estaba en 4)..

jajaja 5 estuvo en advanced options de ubuntu que siguiendo la cuenta sería 7... no lo pillo pero reinicio con default 3 a ver...

One thing seems to be clear, if we want to crack keys we use gpu power and we better do it on a desktop computer that can survive the generated heat... That's one of the things i have understood. Anyway we can try to crack keys from a laptop too but with less power, more time needed and hoping for less heat generated...

On my VAIO laptop i could run several virtual machines and try some attacks. But hoy i really want to use my new laptop? I want linux for sure, and kali. I can try to attack virtual machines from another laptop. I mean, maybe i can ask for less ram and power...

Anyway, another must is two usb 3.0 ports. That is a must just to copy data from and to external hard drives. And is a must no matter i will use windows or linux and that laptop, anyway i always haf the feeling to see copying data on Linux much faster than doing it under Windows...

I'm still looking for a laptop that i would like. Seems that finding a laptop better than my 7 years old Vaio VPCS11C5E with intel i5 core and Nvidia Geforce Cuda inside (no idea real models of both) will not be possible unless i want to expend more than 700 bucks... Even if 7 years had passed. I don't even know how much it costed 7 years ago since i was a lucky guy that won it thanks to Frigo Magnum Icecreams :-)

Linux Kali hibernate

Para hibernar en Kali y supongo que en cualquier Linux dónde no encontramos un botón para hibernar (en modo gráfico) hay que abrir una ventana de consola y escribimos:

sudo pm-hibernate

Pulsamos intro y contestamos a la petición de contraseña.

Lo probé con kali 2.0 cuando no queria perder todo lo que tenía abierto, perder ni olvidar que estaba haciendo.
