I can't remember since wich year i'm using VLC Player to play music in any format and to watch movies as avi files or whatever extension they have. And i still never used Videolan player to convert movies or music files.

And is so easy and free :-)

This time i convert image file cue+ape from a music cd to a mp3 audio file with VLC Player :-)

Just open VLC Player, go to first Menu Item "Media", then go to "Convert" and once the Convert Window open just drag your .ape image file.

Then press on Convert button on the bottom right side of that window. Chose to convert to mp3 or any other format you wish, You can also press on the settings button you have near the output format box and set how many hz must have your converted mp3 file. Also if you want the audio file to be constant bitrate, cbr, or not...

Press explore to set folder output and file name, and press Start to star conversion. VLC Player will show "Streaming" text while it is converting your music cd or cd image file to mp3.

To burn that cd image in the format cue+ape files to a new blank cd or dvd, i would try to use free InfraRecorder Software on Windows 10.

I used to mount images and make iso files from cds with MagicDisk, but it does not work on Windows 10...

I just downloaded Setup_MagicISO.exe (http://www.magiciso.com/download.htm) to my Windows 10, i go to file properties, compatibility and chose to run it as if i was on Windows XP SP2 machine :-)

"Magic ISO Maker v5.5 (build 0281) has been succesfully installed" :-)

MagicISO can burn and make ISO files, but is  NOT the one that can build a virtual cd where i can mount those iso cd images.

But from MagicIso Menu i have a link to download what i need:

For Windows 10 i will try Windows 7 version and install it with w7 compatibility properties.

Magic ISO cannot be installed in Windows 10 :-/

I'm going to try ISODISK to have my Windows 10 virtual cd player (mounting iso files to virtual cd players):

It asks to restart computer after install, but I'm abble to execute isodisk without restarting Windows 10.


Seems to work :-) but i need to make an ISO file before and

MagicIso funciona en Windows 10 pero a traves de MagicDisk - Iso Maker

MagicISO Virtual CD/DVD-Rom es el programa que no consigo instalar en Windows 10. Este programa lo usaba para crear imágenes ISO de cds o dvds y luego poder leer esos archivos ISO a través del mismo programa que creaba uno o varios lectores de cds o dvds virtuales. Pero me da error cuando intento instalarlo en Windows 10 incluso instalandolo con el modo e compatibilidad con Windows 7 o Windows XP que tienen las propiedades del fichero en Windows 10.

Tiene gracia que el fichero de MagicISO se llame setup_magicdisc.exe ya que provoca cierta confusión.

Lo curioso es que Magic Iso Maker sí funciona en Windows 10 y sirve para crear archivos ISO a partir de una carpeta por ejemplo. Tiene otros usos pero no es un programa que he usado mucho, puede que solo lo haya usado una vez. El que siempre usaba era el programa MagicISO para crear imagenes ISO de cds y montar esas imagenes en un lector virtual de cds creado por MagicISO.

y se descarga el archivo setup_MagicISO.exe (a esta confusión me refería) 

y resulta que si puedo crear archivos ISO desde un cd o dvd físico, un cd o dvd real, con solo hacer un click izquierdo sobre el lector de cds :-)

Se despliega el menú de opciones de Windows sobre el lector de cds, como lo haría sobre un archivo, y hay un submenu llamado "MagicISO" y que nos ofrece la posibilidad de "Make Image File From F:" o la letra que corresponda a tu lector de cds o dvds. "Crear un archivo imagen a partir de F:"

La última opción "Virtual CD/DVD-Roms" nos ofrece la posibilidad de abrir la página de MagicDisk para su descarga, con el siguiente texto: "Install MagicDisk Virtual CD/DVD Manager (FreeWare)..."

Pero es inútil descargarlo ya que nos dará error de ejecución en Windows 10 64bits. 

Al menos es lo que me sucede a mí.

Pero ya ves que MagicDisk (setup_magiciso.exe) si nos permite crear imágenes ISO con un solo click :-) 

No podemos montar una imágen ISO con MagicDisk pero si podemos hacer click izquierdo sobre un fichero ISO y extraer su contenido a una carpeta. Algo que podemos hacer con 7z o incluso con el Explorador de Windows (explorer.exe):

You can't read an entire cd or dvd from your computer.

An old trick was to make an iso file from that cd or dvd. It sounds weird but it can work.
How i will make an iso file from a cd? if i can't read its content...

MagicISO or other iso image maker can read the entire cd or dvd because it has an option to skip errors, that's the only reason why you can reacover a cd wich is imposible to read in the normal way. But there is no garanty, maybe the cd is too much scratched and has too many reading errors that there is no way to recover its content.

MagicISO cannot be installed on Windows 10, at least i have not been abble getting an error always i try to install or run it. I talk about the software that appears as a cd icon near the Windows clock on bottom right side of Windows Desktop, and that can mount iso images in a virtual cd player.

But maybe Magic Disk can do the iso file or image cd just left clicking on your dvd player and chosing the MagicISO Menu:

So, MagicIso does not work on Windows 10 even if we go to properties and set compatibility mode with Windows 7 or Windows XP Service Pack 3...

Just try, make an iso image of your cd or dvd, and then mount it on magicdisk virtual cd reader:

Unzip your downloaded portable file and right click on file infrarecorder.exe, then go to properties, compatibilty tab and select Exexute this file on compatibilty mode with Windows 7. Before doing so, if i tried to open my cd reader, infrarecorder got stuck...

Ah! at that point you can copy all its files.

If you are not able to make the iso image then all data has been lost or i just don't know another way to recover its content... After 10 hours trying to recover a cd-rom i cancel process, too many error at 58% of disk, it is a bit scratched, enough to need a lot of time and patience and last errors i saw could not be recovered, other errors were recovered at 2nd try or after 5 or 6 attempts. Anyway, some times it works, and others not, but i had to try :-) I gonna try to reencode the avi file i had on that cd, at 58% of disk it should show me a reading error but, still, i will also try... with handbrake, as i showed on vlc reading index error, recovering index post. No Way... got an error with handbrake at 58% and encoding process was automatically canceled by handbrake, but it gave me more than one hour of content, so i recovered half the movie file.


Yeah! cleaning cd surface is the first thing to try :-)

Ah! since we used infrerecorder instead of magiciso on Windows 10, we need a virtual cd-rom but if i'm not wrong we can open iso files with Windows 10 Explorer, like any zip file, so no need of virtual cd/dvd reader :-)
