What is Silverlight?
"Silverlight is a powerful development tool for creating engaging, interactive user experiences for Web and mobile applications. Silverlight is a free plug-in, powered by the .NET framework and compatible with multiple browsers, devices and operating systems, bringing a new level of interactivity wherever the Web works."
Text copied from https://www.microsoft.com/silverlight/
It also can be used to stream content.
Can be downloaded from: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=149156
And i get a file of 12.6 MB called Silverlight_x64.exe
Another location to download Silverlight is:
From there you can find some uninstall instructions and also install intructions...
And if i need or want the 32 bits Silverlight software???? (mostly because my browser is 32 bits and i really don't know if i need 64 or 32 bits... Windows is 64 bits... and automatic download gives me a 64 bits version to download...)
I get a file of 6,7 MBs on August 2016.
Should be version 5
I will install the 32 bits and see if it works to watch Lourdes webcam (Santuaire de Lourdes, la grotte)
As i always do, i do not want changes to my search engine and homepage, so i uncheck both boxes.
We press on "Install now" and wait.
it suggest to enable Microsoft Update to get Silverlight updates.
But i do updates manually so i don't want to enable it, and i uncheck that box too.
So it has been correctly installed but maybe we will need to refresh the page that needs silverlight to use it.
Let's try with the solverlight video:
Seems that 32 bits Silverlight works fine under Firefox (32 bits) under Windows 64 bits.
We press on "Enable Silverlight" (or maybe the text will be "Allow")
And we choose to Allow and Remember (Choice).
Seems on the Lourdes Santuary site we get an error with the Silverlight Player
but it is installed anyway.
